1 Sunflower seeds
Filling and tasty with a mild nutty flavour, sunflower seeds are rich in Vitamin E, which protects from cell damage and supports healthy skin growth. They also contain copper, which our bodies use to produce melanin to protect from UV damage, and beta-carotene which makes skin less sensitive to the sun.
2 Apples
Apples don’t just keep the doctor away! They’re packed with vitamin C, which is involved in collagen production, keeping your skin soft supple. Apples also contain Vitamin A, which helps immature skin develop into mature and functional tissue, and can also reduce the risk of skin cancer.
3 Brazil Nuts
The humble Brazil nut is rich in selenium, which speeds up cell turnover for healthy glowing skin, plus it increases glutathione which combats free radicals. Brazil nuts also contain zinc, which naturally reduces skin inflammation and painful dryness, plus vitamins A and E.
4 Flaxseed oil
Flaxseed oil contains high levels of omega fatty acids and is thought to help skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis and eczema, plus it may also help to diminish fine lines. Consult a medical professional prior to taking supplements however, as they may have side effects and can delay absorption of oral medications.
5 Avocado
Not just for guacamole, avocados are a great source of antioxidant carotenoids, which guard against environmental damage and improve your skin’s appearance. 6 Oily Fish

7 Dark leafy greens
Our mums were right when they told us to eat up our greens! Spinach, kale, Swiss chard and collard greens provide a variety of phytonutrients such as beta-carotene, and lutein which decreases the risk of wrinkles as well as cancer. A green salad will also provide vitamins and minerals such as iron, calcium, potassium and magnesium.

Good news everyone – our favourite summer-time treat is also good for you! Strawberries are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C to help reduce blemishes and wrinkles. They also contain omega-3 fatty acids, plus salicylic acid which gets rid of dead cells when used as a cleanser or face mask.
9 Turmeric
As well as cooking, turmeric has also been used as a beauty treatment for centuries. It contains curcumin which has antimicrobial, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, helping with all kinds of health problems. You can mix a teaspoon each of turmeric and sugar into hot milk which, taken daily, can help with acne and brighten skin tone.
10 Pink Grapefruit
Try a pink grapefruit for breakfast, for a shot of vitamin A and C that will provide antioxidant protection. This fruit also contains potassium, to help smooth wrinkles and age spots, whilst providing a protective shield against UV rays. Amino acid in grapefruit can also make your skin firmer and softer.
